Özhan Eyigör was graduated from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and received his PhD degree from University of Kentucky Dept. of Anatomy and Neurobiology in 1999. He has been a faculty member at the Dept. of Histology and Embryology, Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine since 2000, and he is a full professor at the same department since 2012. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Society of Histology and Embryology since 2014 and the Editor of the Journal of Uludağ University Medical Faculty since 2008.

His main research interests include the analyses of glutamatergic influences on neuroendocrine systems. Mainly using dual-labeling immunohistochemistry, his laboratory reported the effects of glutamatergic agonists and antagonists on the activation of neuroendocrine neurons including GnRH, oxytocin, vasopressin, orexin, kisspeptin, ANP and nesfatin neurons. These studies also assessed the expression of various glutamate receptor subunits in these neuroendocrine neurons.
